Bergen Beer Festival
The beer festival in Bergen is always one I look forward to.
Its a gathering of the finest breweries in Norway and the focus is all on the breweries. We get a 5 meter tent to ourselves where we can showcase whatever we want. Innovations, exciting designs, as many beers as we can envision. Its truly a exhibition for the creative brewer and a delight for the festival attendee.
I always find inspiration at this festival, so many good beers and so many good brewers.
Its quite a drive though. Fun fact, somewhere along the way is the longest car tunnel in the world. 25km!
Bergen also is a fantastic city, and from a brewer’s standpoint it must be always sunny in bergen, because two festivals in a year we have had nothing but sunshine.
As for the festival itself. I have to say it was immensely good for us. We got to stand on a playing field with titans of the craft and show the good people of Norway that we are serious about making good beer. We demoed a development batch for the first time here. A sour beer with lakris. It was an instant favorite and the 30 liters disappeared early the first day.
We didn’t come back with much beer. By the end most of our beers were depleted. Guess next year we need a bigger van!
